LONDON Tuesday 26 January 2021
Ascot today announces the appointment of a Casualty Delegated team with Ben Warren, Alexander Simon and Edward Colville joining as Underwriters.
Writing at Lloyd’s on behalf of Ascot Syndicate 1414, the team will build and develop a portfolio of delegated casualty business through a network of MGAs. The team will have an international remit, with a particular focus on UK casualty business.
The Underwriters join Ascot from DTW 1991 Syndicate where they managed a highly regarded portfolio of delegated casualty business. The team is led by Class Underwriter Ben Warren, who joins Ascot with over 15 years of industry experience across a range of underwriting and broking roles. Ben will report to David Fitzpatrick, Executive Underwriter.
Commenting on the appointment, Mark Pepper, Group Chief Underwriting Officer, said:
“Under David Fitzpatrick’s leadership, Ascot continues to develop a successful casualty portfolio. Our International Liability capabilities were enhanced by the addition of our Professional Indemnity team in 2020 and now this excellent Delegated group. I’m delighted to welcome Ben, Alex and Ed to Ascot – their reputation as disciplined and specialist underwriters aligns perfectly with our underwriting culture whilst furthering our continued expansion. In our twentieth year trading at Lloyd’s, I’m very pleased that we now have a significant presence in the casualty market to complement our historic and continued success in property and marine lines.”
Ben Warren added:
“We look forward to joining one of the leading Syndicates at Lloyd’s which is renowned for its profitable track record, strong capital position, excellent leadership and focused approach to underwriting. This is an exciting opportunity for our MGA partners and clients who can continue to receive the highest levels of underwriting and service. We look forward to working closely with Mark, David and the rest of the talented team at Ascot to further cement our position in the casualty market.”
The Underwriters will join Ascot effective 1 February 2021.
